Spokane Arts // 2020 Impact Award

Celebrating and honoring art in Spokane on a virtual stage

January 12, 2021 by Greta

For everyone who tuned-in to the 2020 Spokane Arts Awards, it was a wonderful opportunity for connection to the creative & collaborative community of artists of every discipline. It was such an uplifting experience – and for our team, it marked the end of a marathon, completing roughly 45 minutes of pre-recorded programming to support the live event, which was woven in and out from at The Lucky You Lounge. From readings and performances to heartfelt messages and nominee highlights, along with a storm of captioning and beautiful ASL interpretation – it has been an experience. (Watch the full hour broadcast of the event below.)

Of all of it, we walk away still reflecting on the beauty and honoring nature of one award in particular: The Impact Award, given in celebration of the life and artwork of Kate Vita. đź–¤ Kate Vita Studio has undeniably impacted, inspired and influenced the Spokane artistic community in immeasurable ways. She wove color into every creative pursuit, and it was an honor to help in sharing the memories from those who knew her so well.

Of utmost importance to our team is our shared commitment to honor and uplift voices in our community who are working for good and making positive impacts. Partnering with Spokane Arts and the broader community of creatives and collaborators has never ceased to produce such elevating and inspiring opportunities. And while the virtual nature of this past year’s Spokane Arts Awards event presented a fresh slate of challenges and changes, it was exciting to employ the adaptive strengths of our team throughout the media acquisition and editing processes. As the needs of the production shifted (in true 2020 form) being nimble was especially important, even right up until showtime!

Our sincerest congratulations to all of the category winners, we are grateful for all that you create and share through your artistic contributions and creative influence. Thank you for bringing color, light and life to our beautiful city! Tremendous thanks also to Spokane Arts for nurturing opportunities for area artists, and powering such an incredible platform for connection, imagination, and talent – on intensive award ceremony nights – and every day.
