Composite Photography That Makes An Impression
December 4, 2016 by Megan
Some holiday traditions are more exciting than others… I’ve always favored the after-dinner coffee cocktails over the jello salad, for example. And professionally, it is a joy when we get to look forward to creating special holiday media for our clients… from corporate video messages of well-wishes to designs for holiday greeting cards.
One such annual tradition is the Munson Family holiday portrait and card design that has become infamous in its own right. Paige Munson distributes them to her clients as well as to friends and family, and it is not uncommon for recipients to leave the cards out on display all year long. (See 2013 and 2014’s designs here.)
For 2015, the Munsons wanted to give nod to some of the big milestones they celebrated throughout the year, unlike the two years prior that had aimed to make light of some unfortunate events and hardships. Dear friends, a newborn niece, skydiving, and superpowers were all dream-worthy in this dozy portrait.
To create the cloudy dream effect to symbolize the collective snoozing imaginations of their family, we took inspiration from our own 2014 card, featuring our son, Dane, daydreaming of taking his sled out in the winter snow with our husky (below).
And because we have a theme of incorporating levitation photography in the Munson cards, the other side was conceptualized around a flying pillow fight, complete with ample messy feathers and festive PJs! Also, the prior year’s portrait subtly included, as we’ve done in the past.
When our clients look forward to projects as much as we do, it is a thing to celebrate, indeed! We look forward to sharing 2016’s card with you soon… after it gets out to all of Paige’s mailing list first! Cheers to a fun-filled holiday season and family time galore!
